I believe I am short only 3 stocks still (portfolio’s are closed on my screens) and there is no way I can think of shorting anything unless the setup is just perfect. There are too many stocks that are moving higher and when there are at least some stocks showing some speculative momo (MXC 870% in one month), it makes sense that you would not focus on short and instead would focus on longs only. The trend is your friend at all times and making sure you are lined up with the market is the most important thing you can do to increase the odds in your favor significantly. The market has been in an uptrend since late-March. As long as the trend is higher and the market is above the 50 day moving average AND THE 200 day moving average is still bullish, despite the overall general low volume. Since a lot of people are complaining about volume, I’ll place my bets that a low volume rally can continue longer than the NYSE short interest ratio can keep rising. So as long as traders keep shorting stocks, the market should continue to rally.
