EPIC was one of my personal best longs in 2003 as it offered up multiple pyramid buy points and perfect profit taking sell signals on almost every sell. The stock was a big money maker as the chart was a beauty with few flaws. The first buy was very large as the breakout to a new 52-week high came on huge volume, after a very quiet base right off the 50 DMA, with BOP going max green from green. But the second buy is when I loaded up. By then the market was in a clear uptrend, the RS line of the stock was still confirming the trend with max green BOP, the last base was very flat on quiet volume with BOP staying green, and the EPS and sales were growing. After that the stock took off producing some huge gains. The greatest thing, by far, about EPIC was its ability to make climax runs thus allowing us to maximize our profits. The first sell was a climax run, the second sell was based off the max green BOP being max green for the last time after such a long run, the third sell (not shown) was the first time the stock closed below the 50 DMA in December, and the biggest sell was made on what was clearly a top with the stock making a very large gain on the biggest volume in over six months after an exponentially rising trend. The final sell of the final 10% came much later in June of 2004–the first time it closed below the 200 DMA since the purchase. This was truly an amazing stock and from the very first purchase to the top the stock gained an incredible 660% gain in nine months and one week. From my very large purchase to the top, the stock gained 447% in eight months and one week. It might be a long time until the current market turns around but when it does I will be looking to find our next EPIC. This beautiful chart will rise again.
